While 8,000 to 10,000 churches are closing annually, which means 667 to 833 churches are closing a month or 154 to 192 churches are closing a week or 22 to 27 churches are closing a day. Many African-American churches remain stronger than our white sister mainline churches. Why? Because of the place of religion in the lives of black people, the black church is seen as more vibrant. Spirituality and religious activities are core components of black life, which is the reason why you don’t find a high percentage of black atheists. However, many of our young people find no interest in the African-American church, and many of our attempts to reach other African-Americans and get them to church have failed greatly. A great deal of our efforts to reach African-Americans are based upon seminars held by white leaders and books written by white leaders based upon research conducted with white people. Simply put, what works for white people doesn’t work for black people.
Our present church growth literature is based upon data and methodologies that are effective among whites, but are failing tremendously among black churches. In this seminar, “The African-American Church Growth Model,” the Kingdom Voice and African-American Church Growth Expert, Dr. Dana Carson, will provide you with church growth tools and resources that are designed to reach African-Americans based upon research and experience within the African-American culture. Dr. Dana Carson has studied African-Americans and the church and written two dissertations using his own original research. His doctorate from the acclaimed Boston University focused on Theological Studies in Church Growth, a program that he completed with straight A’s! Dr. Carson has dedicated his life to researching, understanding, and repositioning the black church for 21st century existence. Dr. Carson also helps African-American church leaders to apply sound stewardship principles of financial sustainability utilizing his Duke MBA and the fruit of his finance-focused books, designed to educate and empower black people. Without a doubt, you will benefit from this seminar uniquely designed by one of the most scholarly practitioners of African-American descent in the Body of Christ today.
